Thursday 14 th july 2005 - the CI Herald online edition appeared with an article about Romani Katoas draft for the new MMR building !
Designer/Architect Romani Katoa told the Herald on Friday that the plans have been submitted to Marine Resources. The features include
large floor to ceiling windows to allow for plenty of natural light, an internal waterfall to capture and spread light internally, a waii consisting
of a large aquarium for the public to view local lagoon fish life, an information/education room for the public and specially designed metal
loovers on the outside to help keep the building cool in the hot month. Solar panels are able to be fitted to the building to provide up to 50 %
of the power for the building. The ground floor plan can be leased out to private enterprise to generate an income to help recover the costs of
construction and maintain the premises. Katoa said he estimates the cost of the multi purpose building at $ 1.6 million. He says this is afford-
able. Marine boss Ian Bertram told the Herald nothing is confirmed yet. The final decision to proceed will be a political one. - Charles Pitt

It is the clients decision which solutions and design they prefer. - I can´t see the point to spend more money for prisonlike sunloovers.

The structure shown in the cross section shows 2 cylinders "melted" together. - That is to close.
The pictures above show to seperate cylinders with a gap but no bridges between cylinders. That
is to far. Which one shall I take for serious. What is your decision ? You are the hull architect here.
Romani, any idea how the aluminium sunloover hull looks after first cyclones / hurricans ?
It would have offered a lot of "sailing surface". Even in usal island winds it would whistle
all the time. Sheet metal can create sound. Sheetmetalworkers know that by experience.
If you do not decide for an artifical ceiling made of industrial gipboard, where will you install
lights, route the electric cables and fix the toilet pipes diameter 100 mm ? Please think about
railings and how to leave the building in case of fire. Have a look at Archis MMR cross section.
Light goes in 5 to 8 meters. The corridors need a glass gap between the cylinders. Is it open
style to give the public visitor a view under the govenment worker tables by massive windows ?
It is about a new generation of government buildings not about yesterdays ideas. - Try again !
If you want to talk about solar energy you should know that all existing projects an europe are
sponsored by law. They get the double price for ecologicly raised energy. Sun to Power by the
standard silicium technologie is not efficient yet and should not be fixed on sunloover paneels.
