Kia orāna means : may you live long. We are establishing an electronic dictionary to help keep
the Maori language alive, accessible both ways and to improve intercultural communication.
In this beta edition there are already 9,015 records. This represents about 60% of the CI Maori
dictionary. We will continue updating this database. Some of the results may not be complete.

kia = a mildly imperative preposition, expressing a desire or wish rather than a command orāna = a common spelling of ora + na / ora = live, survive, (be) alive, living na = refers to a location : located near or concerning the person(s) adressed.
